So tonight, I got the timers on my new project working.. Previously I’d been working almost solely in XNA on the phone.. This time it’s silverlight.. this app does its thing for a preset amount of time, then it should quietly exit.. but guess what? theres no friggin Exit method in silverlight for the phone.. And everyone’s going around arguing its bad design if you need an exit.. Its not…

So this app, DriftAway.. pick your sounds, set the timer, enjoy your mix… when the timer expires, the app should politely and quietly go away on its own. You’d think.. apparently instead, Im supposed to just leave it running and wait for the user to hit the back button? really? on an app like this, a user isnt going to expect to have to hit the back button. It *SHOULD* exit on its own.. Not to mention the simple arguments going back and forth on different sites about why an exit is or is not needed..

Wouldnt it just be freaking easier for MS to say "here ya go! An exit option… Use it if you want, or dont… "

Problem SOLVED! Wow! Hard huh?

So I guess I will experiment with ways to make it exit (it WILL exit on its own) that will still pass certification… if it kills me.. In my opinion, it’s just plain stupid to *NOT* have an exit.. but wait, I forgot.. its easier to keep hitting back.. back.. back.. back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… back… ahh. finally.. its gone… whew! got a damn blister on my finger..

You get the point. HELLO! WAKE UP!
