About the game
Your Ship. Your Fortune. Your Reputation.
Begin with a single ship and a captain with something to prove. Buy cargo, seek better prices in distant ports, and turn a modest trading venture into a fleet powerful enough to make merchants nervous and pirates think twice.
Gunpowder & Gold combines port-based trading, fleet management, naval encounters, and a world of competing territories. Inspired by classic trading adventures such as Tradewinds, it expands the journey with regional economies, perishable cargo, smuggling, ship customization, and opportunities beyond honest commerce.
Every Port Has Its Opportunities
Settlements offer different goods, prices, and services. Farming communities supply provisions, mining ports export raw materials, and industrial towns hunger for the supplies that keep their workshops running. Learning where goods come from—and where they are needed—is part of building your fortune.
Visit markets and warehouses, seek blessings at temples, collect civic bounties, or head to the tavern for rumors and gambling. Banks, moneylenders, black markets, and shipyards offer further opportunities, but not every settlement has every service.
Profit Has Its Risks
Fresh provisions can bring a rewarding return if you deliver them before they spoil. Valuable cargo attracts unwanted attention, while goods welcomed in one territory may be forbidden in another. Your regional reputation influences how closely the authorities inspect your ships.
For captains willing to operate outside the law, black markets provide buyers for contraband and stolen cargo. Whether you trade openly or hide your fortune below deck, reaching the next harbor is never something to take for granted.
From One Ship to a Fleet
Improve your vessels with stronger hulls, better sails, and different weapons. Expand your fleet as your finances allow, balancing cargo capacity, crew, firepower, and the cost of keeping your enterprise afloat.
Planned encounters include pirates, military vessels, and sea monsters. Boarding and capture mechanics will offer opportunities to take enemy ships as prizes rather than sending every potential addition to your fleet to the bottom.
A World Worth Sailing
Explore an illustrated maritime world of islands, coastal settlements, and competing powers. Build standing with different territories, pursue opportunities across their borders, and eventually seek an unclaimed island where you can establish a base of your own.
